The Community Planning & Economic Development(CPED)departmentis seeking a highly motivatedSenior Plannerto join our Community Development Division. Under the guidance of the Community Development Manager the Senior Planneris responsible for leading and coordinating a team of planning staff and executing land use planning review processes.
The Senior Planner will use their skills to provide expert level capabilities and guidance on land use permitting and development issues. This is a supervisory level position that will lead teams that may include Associate Planners Assistant Planners and Planning Technicians.
The focus of this position will be to provide leadership and technical guidance to planning staff while managing a caseload of more complex land use permits. The Senior Planner will oversee and support the review of various complex permit types including Shoreline Master Program permits State Environmental Policy Act determinations subdivisions single family residential permits and critical area reviews to ensure compliance with local and state regulations. This role also includes presenting projects to the Hearing Examiner and Planning Commission mentoring staff and ensuring coordinated and efficient permit processing within the Current Planning team.

Community Planning & Economic Development is a fast-paced work environment dedicated to accountability consistency and Community Development Division is organized into two primary operational sections. The Current Planning section is the front line of the Countys everyday permitting services managing building permits and land use applications and ensuring projects comply with local and state regulations. The Regional Planning section focuses on long-range planning interjurisdictional coordination and policy development.
Together the division serves a critical role in supporting the Countys development needs. The team includes professionals with expertise in land use and development wetlands prairie habitat building construction public engagement and code compliance. This blend of technical knowledge and service-oriented focus enables the division to guide applicants through complex permitting processes while helping to implement the Countys broader planning goals.
