POSITION: Director of Academic Success POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director of Student Success is responsible for the day-to-day management of student success services ensuring student persistence. The Director develops programs and methods to identify at risk students working collaboratively with Academic Affairs Student Affairs faculty and various University schools and departments. He or she works directly and personally with students to help them overcome obstacles hindering their success at ETBU. The Director oversees and manages the Office of Academic Success. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education/Certification:An earned Masters degree preferred bachelors degree required. Special Knowledge/Skills:Energetic dynamic and success oriented with the ability to balance multiple tasks at the same time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Develop and coordinate programs to identify and support students that are at risk for academic success.
- Act as ombudsman for students to assist in solving problems that may adversely impact the students persistence to graduation.
- Assist students on probation in developing a plan to raise their GPA to an acceptable level.
- Identify students with attendance academic personal financial or other problems and work with that student and other campus professionals to enable his or her success.
- Work in conjunction with Academic Affairs and Deans to train and assist faculty in best practices for student advising.
- Coordinate with Admissions and Deans to see that new students are assisted through the registration process in a timely manner.
- Assist with Welcome Week to help provide students with information regarding the services available at ETBU.
- Oversee and manage the workings and personnel in the Office of Academic Success.
- Coordinate NSO with other components on campus.
- Continue to develop strategies for student retention using evidence-based practices and internal data.
Experience:At least three years of experience in an academic setting as a faculty member or the member of an administrative staff experience in student success or student support services preferred.
