Responsible for performing a variety of moderately complete duties to repair maintain and help construct buildings facilities and plant equipment according to safe predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes. Works from written or verbal instructions maintenance and repair manuals and basic diagrams.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers hoists saws drills and wrenches to measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
2. Assists skilled trades workers to help assemble install or repair wiring electrical and electronic components pipe systems and plumbing machinery HVAC equipment etc.
3. Performs a variety of basic plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
4. Paints and repair roofs windows doors floors woodwork plaster drywall and other parts of building structures.
5. Records type and cost of maintenance repair work.
6. Diagnoses basic problems replace or repair parts test and make adjustments.
7. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
8. Provides basic emergency/unscheduled repairs of facility equipment.
9. Maintains facility equipment and related fixtures in good working order. Maintains preventive maintenance documentation and maintenance schedules.
10. Performs preventative maintenance (PM) duties as scheduled 100% correctly (totally cleaned filters changed as needed and checking every aspect of the equipment to make sure it is in proper operating order according to manufacturer specifications and per Engineering departmental policy. If problems are identified equipment must be checked and documented on a weekly or as needed basis until assurance that problems have been corrected.

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High school diploma/GED and additional education or training in building trades.
2. Massachusetts drivers license.
Experience/Skills:
1. At least one year of relevant experience required. 2 years of relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Position requires participation in an on-call rotation.
