Turner & Townsend seeks an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to support the construction of a large-scale Copper Recycling Facility in Augusta GA. The ideal Project Manager will be driven to provide our clients with excellent service.
- This is 100% on-site in Augusta Georgia the role is set to finish mid 2026.
- STOT & Per Diem are available depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manage stakeholders including architects engineers and supply chain to deliver compliant projects.
- Can analyze track and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip.
- Verify that effective project governance processes and systems are utilized
- Ensure application of best practice on all projects
- Production of formal project status reports and other reports as required
- Monitor the progress of multiple construction projects simultaneously to ensure that the approved design standards are being applied correctly
- Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews
- Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications
- Forecast and update key project milestones
- Manage and monitor local design teams in accordance with commission criteria
- Provide technical support to owners architects general contractors and regional stakeholders
- Rapid response to RFIs from the field
- Provide expertise for cost control value engineering and constructability guidance where required
- Independent review of status reports drawing submittals timelines and costs from architects contractors and suppliers
- Client management assist in developing excellent working relationships with Clients with a view towards maximizing new opportunities
- Strategic Thinking - provide advice to project teams on approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve both clients objectives and business objectives
- Knowledge management ensure that key information and learnings generated from each project is captured
- Process improvement Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Commissioning Process for new and upgraded plant systems ensuring operational readiness and performance validation.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors suppliers and internal teams to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Review and approve mechanical design drawings specifications and technical documents.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for project execution.
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders providing clear project updates and managing expectations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations throughout all project phases.
- Support operational teams during the transition from commissioning to production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or process-related issues during installation and commissioning.
- Manage change control and maintain accurate project documentation.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ideally 4 years of field experience in MEP construction accepted in lieu of degree.
- 5 years of experience in project management with a focus on mechanical systems in industrial or recycling facilities.
- Proven experience commissioning complex mechanical systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of metals recycling processes heavy equipment and plant operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices in an industrial environment.
- Excellent communication leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong focus on deadlines and budget constraints.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g. MS Project Primavera).
- PMP or equivalent certification (preferred).
Additional Information :
Salary Range: $140-160k per diem is available based on the right experience.
