Function: The WACTC/P-TECH Director is responsible to coordinate all activities programs and events with college and university partners industry leaders and high school faculty to expand post-secondary educational opportunities and career goals for students. The Director has the administrative responsibility for providing students enrolled in the Woonsocket Career & Technical Center with education and training of sufficient excellence to enable them upon graduation to enter the job market with well-developed skills and varied intellectual interests or to continue on to post-secondary education. The position reports directly to the Woonsocket High School/WACTC Building Principal.
Essential Functions:Responsible for the accreditation of all current programs as well as possible expansion of the Woonsocket Area Career & to must establish a vision for the center that blends the WED strategic plan with meeting Rhode Island Department of Education requirements and the CTE Board of Trustees guidance in collaboration with the School PrincipalMust work collaboratively with the WED WACTC & P-TECH Project Administrator Executive Board Advisory Board Business & Industry Liaison and MCC / RCSD faculty committeesMust meet the goals/objectives as described in the project in collaboration with faculty work cooperatively with the GWB RIDE Career Technical Education RIDE Higher Education Academic Services including the Concurrent and Dual Enrollment Office & Student ServicesAlign project outcomes with RI WACTC& P-TECH model goalsAdminister data collection analysis and evaluation regarding program pace with the local/state/national trends or regulations in curriculum and instruction as related to CTEEnsure consistent and accurate communication among all positive relationships to obtain the resources needed to foster the success of RI P-TECH early college high school and provide technical and professional and facilitate summer college readiness programs in collaboration with the School PrincipalCoordinate apprenticeships co-ops and internships in cooperation with the WED and industry partnersResponsible for adhering to our partner Colleges Code of for contributing to and maintaining an inclusive and collaborative college environmentResponsible for maintaining technological competencies utilized by industry and collegesLaunch Planning Committees responsible for key areas of school development under the guidance of the School and maintain a Scope & Sequence that integrates high school and college classes as well as Workplace Learning experiences for all CTE a Skills Map that informs the development of the Scope & Sequence and ensures that students graduate with the entry-level skills that employers needAttend CTE Trust & Board meetings and subcommittee work and RIDE meetings and subcommittee workFollow Governors Workforce Board guidanceAttend Administrative Meetings @ State Directors RIACTEDMonitors CTE certification with the state; applies and interprets state Career and Technical Education certification standards in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources & Labor write maintain and track all grant expendituresWork to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting those with the preparation and administration of the budget under the guidance of the School recommendations to the School Principal and the WED Administrative team for long-term adjustments changes additions and deletions in the career and technical programs to meet changing job trends and training sessions conferences and workshops as assigned or appropriate to keep abreast of current practices programs and legal issues. Serve on district state and community councils or committees as assigned or appropriate. Maintain a close relationship with the Villa Nova and Hamlet Middle Schools iExplore programsWork collaboratively with the WHS administrative teamPerform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned and are consistent with this position as assigned by the School Principal
Required Qualifications: A Masters Degree from an institution approved by the State Board of Regents will be required with specialization in courses concerned with industrial/vocational Level Administrator PK-12 RI certification3-5 years of experience as a Secondary School Administrator; preferably in vocational educationPrevious experience teaching experience in a vocational education program preferredVigorous leadership qualities are essential with a strong rapport with students and staff.
