Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

Who we are looking for:

SLATE is looking for an energetic organized experienced Supplier Quality Engineer Battery & Thermal to join our growing team. The SQE will be supporting all aspects of Supplier Quality and performance. This position will be responsible for understanding and working closely with internal and external customers expectations sourcing quality supplier development delivering tooling and parts on budget and on time per our program milestones.

In this position the candidate will be responsible for performing domestic and international supplier audits administering the APQP process and holding suppliers accountable to the companys Quality Requirements Manual while developing and implementing supplier partner KPIs and scorecards to drive continuous improvement and performance accountability. The Supplier Quality Engineer Battery & Thermal will be pivotal in evaluating suppliers for production awards managing all aspects of supplier quality performance developing strong supplier relationships and working closely with all internal stakeholders to support the companys overall objectives and core values. Additionally the SQE will develop and maintain supplier quality requirements specific to battery modules packs and thermal management components to ensure alignment with performance safety and durability standards; support supplier launch readiness for battery cells BMS electronics cooling plates thermal interfaces and thermal management systems including PPAP submissions and validation testing; and perform supplier process audits focusing on high-voltage battery assembly welding sealing thermal bonding and leak-check processes.

What you bring to the team:

  • Four Year Degree or higher in Engineering Industrial Technology Materials Science or Supply Chain Management
  • 3 years of direct Supplier Quality Engineering/Development experience including site audits continuous improvement APQP lean problem-solving principles and leading a team by example or a combined 5 years of experience in Internal Quality Engineering Supplier Quality Continuous Improvement and/or Program Management
  • Prior experience working with suppliers of battery systems cells battery management systems (BMS) and/or thermal management components strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of high-voltage safety pack-level validation thermal runaway mitigation and supplier quality control methods for these technologies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to identify process issues and drive improvements to improve operational efficiency and product quality.
  • Strong working knowledge of value driven supplier KPI and scorecard development and implementation.
  • Work directly with engineering and manufacturing regarding technical GD&T and drawing standards training and review.
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems and implementation
  • Strong analytical interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of integrity
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced start-up environment.

Troy MI- Salary Range - $80459.0880 $100573.8600

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Slate reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors including an applicants years of experience unique skills and abilities education alignment with similar internal candidates marketplace factors other requirements for the position and employer business practices. In addition to base pay Slate also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs 401k match annual bonus and company equity based on eligibility along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans HSA / FSA.
