Your work environment at EXP

EXP is seeking anIntermediate Project Engineer (Facilities)to join our expanding Calgary AB office. In this role you will work on a variety of challenging and dynamic projects within the energy and infrastructure sectors. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our clients projects are delivered on time on budget and to the highest technical standards.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Lead and execute the detailed engineering and design of facility systems including piping meter stations HVAC mechanical systems and infrastructure.
  • Develop project scopes conceptual designs engineering calculations and ensure all deliverables meet quality and technical standards.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings technical specifications and procurement documents.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders including vendors contractors and clients to align on project goals and deliverables.
  • Conduct feasibility studies technical assessments and risk analyses for proposed projects.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction including responding to RFIs conducting site visits and ensuring alignment with design specifications.
  • Manage project scoping and coordination tasks including kick-off meetings design reviews and RFI submissions.
  • Execute advanced design tasks such as hazardous area classifications stress analysis material takeoffs and code compliance reviews.
  • Develop and review 3D models including location plans site layouts and P&IDs.
  • Prepare comprehensive drafting and drawing deliverables including isometric views piping support details and section views.
  • Conduct site inspections to validate designs and resolve technical issues.
  • Track schedules budgets and progress to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with structural electrical and civil components.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.

What your experience looks like

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (.) in Alberta.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design within the energy industrial or infrastructure sectors.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of design and analysis software such as AutoCAD MicroStation Pipe-Flo and other relevant tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ASME CSA API and the Alberta Building Code.
  • Experience with hazardous area classifications and stress analysis is required is preferred.
  • Experience in project management including scheduling budgeting and stakeholder management is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and clients.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and energy efficiency principles is an asset.
  • Ability to prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
