2nd Shift (4:00 pm to 2:00 am; M-F)
Starting Wage $25.24/hr $1 shift differential
The Slitter/Decoiler Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment including a Slitter and Decoiler machine to level edge trim and cut-to-length steel sheets from coil.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for programming and operating the PLC controlled leveling and shearing machines
- Responsible for calibration and set-up of equipment
- Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet specifications and blueprint data
- Unband steel coil to feed through the cut-to-length machine
- Load steel coil via the coil cart
- Maintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery
- Use overhead crane forklift and/or conveyor to load/unload material
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoors
- Other duties as required and/or assigned
Important Details about the Role
- Setup operate and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty
- Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
- Read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance
- The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer
- The employee has a direct impact on safety quality productivity and delivery
- This position reports to the Production Supervisor
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education Experience Knowledge Skills and Abilities)
- The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
- The ability to operate overhead cranes forklifts and basic welding equipment
- The ability to read a tape measure
- The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
- The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to meet production safety and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
- Maintain a safe and productive working environment
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing setting
- 1 year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
