Overview:
Ionis Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Techno-Functional Data Engineer with a strong background in Life Sciences commercial operations and hands-on expertise in Azure-based data engineering. This position requires a blend of business acumen and technical skills to support commercial data initiatives involving sales marketing incentive compensation and patient data.
Position: Contract (Onsite)
Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy data solutions to support commercial business functions within Life Sciences.
Design build and maintain data models pipelines and ETL processes.
Integrate and manage large datasets using Azure data services and SQL/Python.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Sales Marketing and Patient Data teams.
Create dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
Ensure data solutions align with commercial KPIs and compliance standards.
Requirement Qualifications:
8 years in Life Sciences commercial operations (Sales Marketing IC Patient Data LAAD Claims)
5 years in Data Engineering with cloud experience (preferably Azure)
Proficient in Azure Data Lake Azure SQL Azure Databricks Azure Synapse
Strong skills in SQL Python ETL and data lake architecture
Experience with Power BI Tableau or equivalent visualization tools
Additional Information:
Only local candidates near Carlsbad CA will be considered
Must have both commercial domain knowledge and technical data engineering expertise
Candidate Details:
Senior-level resource with hybrid business/data engineering skills
Must have direct Life Sciences experience (no exceptions)
Available for onsite work in Carlsbad CA
