Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Civil Engineer with 6 years of aviation-related experience to join our Aviation team. This position is ideally based in Seattle WA though we are also open to qualified applicants in Salt Lake City UT or nearby regions.
The successful candidate will support a wide range of airside and landside design projects at commercial service and general aviation airports. Youll be working on projects ranging from runway and taxiway design to grading drainage utility coordination and construction administration in a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support design tasks related to airfield infrastructure: runways taxiways aprons pavement grading and stormwater systems.
- Prepare and review technical drawings specifications cost estimates and bid documents in compliance with FAA state and local standards.
- Participate in the coordination of multidisciplinary teams including subconsultants and internal design groups (structural electrical geotechnical).
- Provide support during construction phases including site visits submittal reviews and RFI responses.
- Interface with clients stakeholders and permitting agencies to support project delivery.
- Contribute to project management activities including scope schedule and budget tracking under the direction of senior staff.
- Assist in mentoring junior engineers and supporting their technical development.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 6 years of progressive civil engineering experience preferably with a focus on aviation or transportation infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
- Previous experience working on airport projects (Part 139 airports FAA-funded projects).
- Familiarity with construction administration and QA/QC procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of FAA design criteria and engineering standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Microsoft Office Suite and standard design tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel periodically for client meetings and site visits.
