Traffic Engineer

AECOM is seeking a motivated Traffic Engineer with at least two years of professional experience to join our Transportation team in a hybrid role based in Los Angeles or Orange CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or mid-level traffic engineer ready to contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects and develop their technical and professional expertise.

Job Responsibilities

As a key team member your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in the preparation of traffic impact studies traffic signal designs signing and striping plans and road safety audits under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Performing data collection and field investigations to support project development and analysis.
• Contributing to traffic analysis and modeling using tools such as Synchro VISSIM and SIDRA.
• Collaborating with project teams including planners civil designers and project managers to deliver technical solutions.
• Supporting the preparation of technical reports drawings and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
• Ensuring project work complies with local state (e.g. Caltrans LADOT) and federal traffic engineering standards.
• Participating in internal reviews quality checks and continuous improvement processes.
• Developing your understanding of regulatory processes safety principles and construction phase services.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in traffic engineering transportation planning or roadway design or equivalent of education and experience.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Caltrans and/or LADOT standards and procedures.
• Exposure to traffic signal design signing and striping plans and temporary traffic control.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD MicroStation and traffic simulation software (e.g. Synchro HCS).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
• A desire to learn from experienced engineers and grow into a lead or management role.
