This position is contingent on contract award.
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services Inc. and provide services outlined below:
International SOS Government Medical Services Inc. is looking for an individual who is an experienced Dosimetrist to calculate and plan the optimal radiation doses for cancer treatment ensuring that radiation is delivered accurately and safely to target tumors while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues. They collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop precise treatment plans that maximize therapeutic effectiveness and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out medical dosimetry functions and oversee the medical dosimetry functions of the Radiation Oncology Service.
- Functions as a technical supervisor of medical dosimetry services and oversee medical dosimetry quality assurance activities.
- Perform in conjunction with the Contractors Medical Physicist treatment planning for SRS/SRT HDR brachytherapy IMRT IGRT and LDR brachytherapy.
- Be present during patient treatment for HDR brachytherapy and provide backup coverage during volume study procedures for LDR brachytherapy.
- Design treatment plans by means of computer and manual computation that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique in accordance with the VA Radiation Oncologist prescription to a defined tumor volume.
- Consider dose-limiting structures in the design of treatment plans and document dose in accordance with VA Radiation Oncologist prescription.
- Assist with treatment simulations and tumor localization on dedicated devices including computer tomography and MRI when indicated for radiation therapy treatment planning.
- Assist in planning and oversee fabrication of compensating filters custom shields wedges and other beam modifying devices.
- Assist in the planning oversee and supervise production of molds casts and other immobilization devices.
- Assist radiation therapy staff in the implementation of the treatment plan including the correct use of immobilization devices compensators wedges field arrangements and any treatment variable associated with treatment planning implementation.
- Perform calculation methods for the delivery of prescribed dose and subsequent documentation in patient files and verification of the mathematical accuracy of all calculations using a system established by the Contractors Medical Physicist.
- Provide dosimetry and technical support to Contractors Medical Physicist in radiation protection qualitative and quantitative machine calibration and quality assurance of the radiation therapy equipment.
- Assist in the application of specific methods of dosimetry including ion chamber TLD or film measurements as directed by the Contractors Medical Physicist.
- Be present on time for any scheduled clinics as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
- Provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088 Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
- Provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for radiation radiologic procedures so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up can be done.
- Medical Physicist and Dosimetrist shall provide review of consults/orders and next- day patient cases for minimum of two hours daily.
- Medical Physicist and Dosimetrist shall provide post-procedure evaluation and follow-up and clinical consultation regarding complications of interventional radiologic procedures.
- Medical Physicist and Dosimetrist shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
- Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
- Prepare for attend and take care of follow up activities resulting from the following specialized meetings.
- Complete the appropriate QM and PI documentation pertaining to all procedures complications and outcome of examinations.
- Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
- Be subject to Quality Management measures such as patient satisfaction surveys timely completion of medical records and Peer Reviews.
- Completes required organizational compliance education including assigned requirements that are client-specified for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications :
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Education Required:
- Graduate from a qualifying educational program for radiography or radiation therapy technology from an accredited college University Hospital medical school or post-secondary technical or vocational school. Program must have been accredited at the time of education or training by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals or by the American Osteopathic Association.
- Board certified or eligible dosimetrist per the American Board of Radiology.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
