Job Description

Pay Rate: $22.07 per hour

The Esperanza Center provides a welcoming atmosphere social services health services legal support and English as a Second Language (ESL) to immigrants in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The centers staff offers assistance with employment English proficiency legal services and access to primary and urgent health care and referral services. The health services are offered in partnerships with area hospitals and medical schools.

Catholic Charities of Baltimore Esperanza Center Health Services is currently seeking a Dental Clinic Coordinator that will coordinate the daily operations of the Esperanza Center Dental Clinic. Daily operations include facilities and equipment management coordinating patient and volunteer schedules and patient care. The work schedule is Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm 32 hours per week(This is a Part-time position)

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule and confirm patients dental appointments and maintain dental provider schedule that corresponds to patient appointments.
  • Coordinate and schedule regular dental equipment preventive maintenance including autoclave x-ray machines and maintaining licensure with Maryland Department of the Environment.
  • Assist with rooming triage and discharge of dental patients as well as other dental services including set up for various procedures including extractions amalgam composite impressions etc.
  • Work directly with Volunteers in Medicine organization to maintain credentialing and Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverage for all volunteer dental providers.
  • Prepare and maintain goals and objectives for the Dental Clinic and report for performance management and grant requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure dental services are in compliance with quality assurance safety and regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Ensures that all dental records are maintained in accordance with agency local state and federal requirements.
  • Provide direct chair-side assistance to dentist during procedures performing fluid and debris evacuation and air-water spray to operating sites and employing 4-handed instrument transfer techniques.
  • Assist supervising dentist in prevention and management of dental/medical emergencies to include CPR and prompt notification of emergency medical services.
  • Inform supervisor of need for maintenance or repair service of dental equipment to insure proper function during scheduled days and time of planned patient care.
  • Monitor staff adherence to dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA CDC and ADA standards.
  • Manage inventory and order and maintain dental clinical supplies.
  • Monitor monthly expenditure statements for budget and prepare documents required to maintain balanced accounts for review and approval by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of experience in a general dental practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Radiographic Imaging - dental x-rays.
  • Certified in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 6 months of hire.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Excellent patient care skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC web browsing (i.e. Chrome Internet Explorer etc.) and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge such as Word Excel PowerPoint Skype and OneDrive desired.

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists hands and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with others.
