Corporate Controller


Job Description:

Reporting to the President the Corporate Controller is a key member of the companys leadership team. This individual will apply their education knowledge skills and abilities to develop accurate financial reporting budgeting compliance and strong controls for the company while defining and implementing accounting and finance strategies and initiatives for the organization. The Corporate Controller is the owner of the companys day to day Accounting Treasury and Risk Management activities. The Corporate Controller will lead and coach a team of individuals who will design implement and execute processes to help the organization achieve its financial goals.


Key Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities of the companys organization.
  • Owns the accounting close and financial reporting process for the company. Ensure financial statements are consolidated and prepared in accordance with US GAAP and issued in a timely manner.
  • Presents internal monthly financial results and related analysis to Executive Management and Board of Directors.
  • Periodically reviews profitability by product group and SKU to find opportunities for improvement.
  • Master data maintenance and governance regarding pricing costing mark-ups discounts.
  • Establishes and monitors compliance with accounting and financial internal control policies.
  • Manages the companys A/R A/P and treasury functions.
  • Manages annual insurance renewals audit and tax compliance activities.
  • Proactively monitors compliance with bank and lessor covenants and owns the preparation of compliance reports.
  • Supports the annual budgeting process and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key third party service providers including the companys audit/tax firm banks attorneys insurance brokers and managed IT solution.
  • Proactively monitors and makes recommendations on systems and technology for the organization. Leads the organization through system implementations as applicable.
  • Proactively identifies and implements new accounting pronouncements.
  • Identifies business processes and tasks that can be highly automated or outsourced where possible.
  • Establishes departmental goals and ensures regular employee feedback sessions are occurring.
  • Encourages open communication and a team environment across all sites

Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (or equivalent related experience).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Accounting and Finance including a minimum of three (3) years in a managerial-level position leading a team.
  • Public accounting experience along with a CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • GAAP experience in a multi-site manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred.
  • Prior experience with Epicor Prophet 21 software (current ERP) and crystal reports is preferred.
  • Previous experience with IT system implementations is preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees and be perceived as an approachable and knowledgeable resource.
  • Knowledgeable in ERP finance processes accounting consolidations and Microsoft Office applications.
