Job Description

Description

Performs a variety of technical procedures in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves at the physicians request for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

  • Operates ultrasound instrumentation in accomplishing various ultrasound tests according to established procedures.
  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients while performing studies.
  • Recognizes the significance of all images that appear on the monitor.
  • Differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes to recognize electronic equipment limitations and be capable of recognizing a diagnostic scan.
  • Cleans equipment; cleans adjusts and checks focusing on the cameras.
  • Review journals attends conferences and/or in-services to keep abreast of changes or enhancements in techniques and procedures.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Assists in other areas of the practice when patient volume allows.
  • Participates in practice staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with a business emphasis.
  • Must have attended an approved school of diagnostic ultrasound or have had the equivalent experience accepted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service
  • Must be able to understand directions communicate and respond to inquires; requires effective interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to input and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Must be able to operate ultrasound equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and or carry light equipment and supplies.
