Position Overview:
The position is responsible for handling cash or other monetary transactions accurately performing accounting and clerical duties for the Student Accounts Office.

Job Description Sumary:

The position is responsible for handling cash or other monetary transactions accurately performing accounting and clerical duties for the Student Accounts Office and some or all of the listed duties and/or additional duties that occur from time to time. The position receives supervision and work assignments from the Executive Director of Business Services (or designated supervisor) although the Student Accounts Specialist and other staff members in the unit may provide work direction. Essential duties include: -Providing customer service support regarding school financial issues to all school campuses and regional cooperatives-Balancing and maintaining cash drawer cash accountability and accurately processing cash transactions including deposits withdrawals and cash requisitions-Assisting with the development and revision of forms/manuals-Assisting in preparing various spreadsheets and periodic reports for the local school accounts and trust funds-Receiving recording and classifying all incoming revenue funds from the school campuses and ensuring timely depositing of all cash receipts-Preparing the school campus deposits for appropriate deposits to bank accounts and entering them into Microsoft Excel-Providing clerical support to the Student Accounts Specialist in the financial processes of the local school accounts and trust funds-Performing additional duties as required to support the Accounting and Administrative teams that may include but not limited to: answering phone customer service compiling and submitting reports maintaining logs composing and delivering routine correspondence organizing and maintaining files and all other related items as assigned.

Training and Experience

Required Eduction: High School Diploma or equivalent - Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook - Effective verbal listening and written communication skills - Proficient in data entry - Six (6) months cashiering/banking or general bookkeeping/accounting experience

Licensing/Certifcation Requirements

Must be able to pass FBI and State background check Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business

Knowlege of:

- Policies procedures and programs of the immediate work unit related to accounts payable and general accounting procedures - Principles and practices of administration and management - Agency or program rules regulations and operating procedures - Administrative and clerical procedures managing files and records - Cashiering/banking or general bookkeeping/accounting

Demonstrated Skills:

Communicate information and ideas effectively so that others will understand - Analyze and interpret financial data - Apply a logical thought process necessary for problem solving and decision-making - Research and reconcile documents to automated systems - Organize and prioritize - Attention to detail and accuracy - Provide quality customer service
