Street Cleansing Operative

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport City to assist with the appointment of a Street Cleansing Operative on a 2-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 12.85 - 16.32 per hour

Summary:

The Street Cleansing Operative is responsible for delivering high standards of street cleanliness across Newport in accordance with contract specifications. Working under the supervision of the Assistant Manager and Supervisors the role involves street sweeping refuse collection and general environmental maintenance to ensure clean safe public spaces. The postholder must adhere to health and safety guidelines wear protective clothing and provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public.

Responsibilities:

• Complete daily cleansing tasks as per the assigned schedule and contract specifications.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in public areas including litter picking sweeping and emptying litter bins.
• Use appropriate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support refuse collection teams during operations including loading bins and collecting waste where necessary.
• Work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of the Newport City area.
• Experience working in a street cleansing or refuse collection environment.
• Physically fit and capable of undertaking strenuous duties including walking lifting bending and carrying.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Available to work on a rostered basis including weekends and holidays.
