Job Description Summary

The successful candidate(s) will be a Senior Materials Engineer for nondestructive testing and evaluation technologies for Wind Turbine products.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain material and special process specifications for nondestructive test methods and procedures.
  • Work with suppliers to interpret specifications/standards and optimize production methods/techniques.
  • Review supplier and service provider NDT procedures and techniques to ensure compliance with codes standards and specifications.
  • Service projects support NDT process development for field inspection and validation. Interface with services teams and 3rd parties to develop field procedures.
  • Work with RCA teams suppliers 3rd parties and field teams to establish requirements (equipment and processes) for inspection.
  • Drive conversations between sourcing engineering and suppliers to optimize NDT (cost/benefit trade-offs).
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and standard work.
  • Identify technology development opportunities for growth and investment.
  • Provide engineering estimation of NDT examination performance for factory and in-service test conditions.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in relevant Science or Engineering field (Materials Physics Mathematics Mechanical).
  • Minimum 10 years experience with non-destructive test methods and procedures including at least 5 with ultra-sonic test methods.
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel (international and domestic) up to 20% of the time

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands on experience with NDT methods for volumetric (UT) and surface (MPI PT) inspection.
  • Proficiency in common NDT methods for metals. Good understanding of other acoustic and electromagnetic test methods. Experience/knowledge of PAUT.
  • Familiarity with casting forging welding and joining material processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards for NDT.
  • Understanding of EHS requirements for NDT practices.
  • Inquisitiveness and desire to learn and apply SOA NDT methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team contributing to positive culture and overall team results
