Job Description

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORKThe Director of Community Education serves as a visionary and operational leader responsible for the planning development implementation and evaluation of all adult youth and workforce education programs at Assabet Valley RVSD. This includes oversight of the evening school enrichment programs technical licensure classes post-secondary offerings and the Assabet Technical Institute (ATI). The Director ensures these initiatives meet the evolving needs of the regions workforce businesses and community members while maintaining a sustainable fiscally responsible model aligned with the districts position is ideal for a dynamic educational leader with a deep understanding of community engagement post-secondary and adult education and workforce development RESPONSIBILITIESI. Strategic Leadership and Vision Lead the strategic direction of the Community Education Division including the ATI and affiliated workforce initiatives. Develop and maintain a long-range strategic plan that addresses program growth regional workforce demand and community needs. Identify and respond to local regional and statewide workforce trends using data from MassHire DOL and DESE to inform program development. Collaborate with district leadership to ensure programming aligns with the overall mission and vision of Assabet Valley RVSD. Promote a student-centered culture focused on quality instruction accessibility and career readiness for adult learners and youth . Program Development and Management Design and implement a diverse portfolio of programming including adult basic education industry-recognized credential programs technical licensure workforce training youth summer programs and enrichment classes. Establish track and meet enrollment goals and key performance indicators for all program offerings. Evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of course offerings; expand or sunset programs based on enrollment trends and workforce needs. Ensure compliance with all applicable local state and federal regulatory requirements licensing boards and accreditation standards. Lead curriculum development initiatives in partnership with instructors state agencies and industry . Partnerships Outreach and Community Engagement Build and sustain strong partnerships with local and regional Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) MassHire Career Centers post-secondary institutions chambers of commerce industry associations and municipal agencies. Develop and maintain articulation agreements dual enrollment opportunities and apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship programs with higher education institutions and employers. Cultivate an Advisory Board composed of key external stakeholders to support strategic goals ensure community relevance and foster innovation. Represent the district and ATI at local regional and state workforce-related meetings and . Marketing Recruitment and Public Relations Design and execute marketing strategies to recruit students and increase public awareness including digital campaigns print brochures catalogs press releases and targeted outreach. Maintain an engaging and informative online presence for Community Education including a user-friendly registration portal. Organize open houses information sessions and job fairs to promote educational opportunities and employer connections.V. Fiscal Oversight and Budget Management Develop manage and monitor a self-sustaining Community Education budget with guidance from the Business Office and Superintendent-Director. Oversee tuition revenue collection accounts payable and receivable credit card compliance instructor stipends and vendor contracts. Prepare and present detailed financial and enrollment reports to the Superintendent-Director on a regular basis (minimum three times annually). Ensure responsible use of resources and adjust programming to meet financial targets without compromising quality or access. Research and apply for grant funding to support Assabets mission of workforce development programming and equipment . Staff Supervision and Instructional Oversight Recruit hire train supervise and evaluate a team of 35 core staff and a broader network of instructors. Conduct orientation and ongoing professional development for faculty and staff. Observe instructional practices and provide performance evaluations and feedback to maintain high educational standards. Ensure faculty meet all required certifications and professional licensure requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent-Director and/or his/her . Facility and Technology Coordination Coordinate facility usage with day-school administration and custodial staff to ensure proper classroom shop and lab availability. Collaborate with the IT department to manage computer lab scheduling and software access for technology-based programs. Maintain up-to-date equipment instructional materials and registration software for a smooth operational workflow. Ensure the safety and security of all Community Education operations including compliance with building protocols and emergency procedures.
