Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineerto join our growing team in Richmond or Virginia Beach Virginia!

The candidate in this role will provide technical expertise and leadership to our team of highly skilled engineers while leading tasks/projects simultaneously and applying technical knowledge and expertise to develop the teams overall capabilities. Projects will includewater treatment/drinking water facility engineering investigations studies analysis designs and construction administration services.

Role accountabilities:

The Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer will evaluate plan design permit and support management of projects for water/wastewater and conveyance (pipelines treatment and pumping facilities). Other projects may include distribution system improvement projects hydraulic modeling conveyance-related construction projects pump station rehabilitation gravity sewer main rehabilitation construction projects inflow and infiltration assessment and reduction programs water treatment and reclamation.

In addition this role may support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation review of shop drawings responses to request for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts.

This role involves successful execution of water and wastewater projects throughout planning design and construction phases. This includes overseeing the development of design calculations technical report sections technical design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements.

Moreover a key aspect of the role is to support the preparation of reports presentations and other audio-visual materials while actively participating in client meetings to foster effective client communication and project alignment. Ensuring project compliance with all Arcadis practices and maintaining quality health and safety standards are paramount responsibilities. Facilitating coordination for timely project completion within budget constraints is essential to meet project milestones successfully.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting is needed with a readiness to engage in collaboration with team members located across different geographical locations. Additionally supervising and supporting the work of others as well as mentoring junior-level engineering and design/drafting staff are fundamental aspects of this position to uphold project standards and foster professional development within the team.

The job may require some travel for project site visits client meetings safety audits general planning purposes or overseeing construction activities based on project staffing needs. This dynamic and multifaceted role necessitates adaptability strong leadership skills and a dedicated commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects in adherence to industry best practices and standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Environmental Mechanical or a related field of study.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of relevant water/wastewater experience.
  • Master of Science/Engineering in Civil Environmental Mechanical Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Experience in design or consulting engineering or Municipal work environment.
  • Project leadership experience including managing overall project delivery expectations prioritizing tasks and mentoring.
  • Client management experience including preparation and development of proposals and client relationship building.
  • Experience/training with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional association(s).

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
