    JOB SUMMARY: The role of the Career Coach is to help students make informed educational and career choices while connecting them to opportunities in their field of interest. This position will develop and foster relationships with Queen Annes County Chamber of Commerce Economic and Tourism Development and businesses with the goal of offering job shadow opportunities internships and apprenticeships within our community. The Career Coach will help students navigate career and educational options the type of academic and occupational training needed to succeed in the workplace and post-secondary opportunities that are associated with their field of interest. The Career Coach will provide stakeholders with information they can use to support students career exploration and post-secondary educational opportunities.

    REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Career and Technical Education
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Possession of a Bachelors Degree preferably in the field of human services business social science and/or education
    • Ability to earn a Career Development certification and/or credential within the 1st year of employment
    • Work-Based Learning experience preferred
    • General knowledge of school organization and programs
    • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources
    • Experience in youth development preferred
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
    • Regular and predictable attendance
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to teach advise mentor and collaborate face-to-face and virtually with a wide range of learners and stakeholders (students parents colleagues business partners

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Ability to work while seated or standing and walking

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    Successful completion of a background check
    Valid Drivers License
    Reliable transportation to all work sites is required. (Work location varies across Queen Annes County schools.)

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of local training schools and community services/employment opportunities.
    • Knowledge of apprenticeship models.
    • Ability to accurately compile analyze and present statistical reports and data.
    • Ability to effectively organize work establish priorities manage time effectively and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to use creativity and originality in designing programs creating partnerships and developing services.
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with state officials community partners business representatives co-workers and customers.
    • Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills with ability to prepare and present clear accurate reports.
    • Ability to be flexible act as a team player and provide quality internal and external customer service.
    • Ability to contribute towards curriculum development.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Works collaboratively with the Queen Annes County CTE Liaison to connect students to career opportunities through internships and apprenticeships
    • Works collaboratively with other Career Coaches to coordinate college and business tours career related field trips and employment and college fairs
    • Participate in professional development to stay current with job market trends and needs internship and apprenticeship opportunities CTE programs and educational opportunities
    • Provides professional advice to students on apprenticeship career pathways that lead to industry recognized credentials education occupational training and work experience.
    • Utilize digital platforms such as Pathful and Naviance to provide career awareness to students and use the data garnered to provide tailored guidance to students
    • Work in collaboration with school counselors to support students with educationand career interests as well as post-secondary options.
    • Work directly with students to develop essential skills necessary for career success such as communication organization and planning resum writing etc...
    • Oversees and manages the work-based learning program at the high school
    • Provide data to the CTE Supervisor as it relates to career experiences for students and data from parents and relative stakeholders
    • Maintain confidential records and comply with all federal state and local laws governing data privacy and safety
    • Plan and implement CTE and career awareness activities during the school year and in the summer
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Pay and Hours:
    Placement on the Queen Annes County Support I Salary Schedule - Instructor 13R ($48780 - $72315) based on experience. This is a Full-time benefited 10-month position. Some evenings weekends and summer work required.
