How will you make an impact in this role
- Assist in the day-to-day implementation of the EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act governance framework working under the direction of the EU AI Technical Governance Manager to ensure consistent and effective technical governance practices
- Manage the intake into the EU AI governance process for new and existing AI systems
- Support the risk classification of AI systems by gathering relevant information and contributing to the AI system review of technical documentation
- Draft and issue communications to internal stakeholders regarding governance activities deadlines and classification outcomes. Help field routine queries and coordinate more complex queries with the wider EU AI Risk & Control team
- Support the EU AI Technical Governance Manager in managing the AI registry used to capture the outcomes of the EU AI Act governance process
- Support the EU AI Technical Governance Manager in providing guidance on the design and implementation of technical controls to meet regulatory obligations (e.g. across accuracy fairness robustness) helping develop internal partnerships with AI development and cybersecurity teams
- Ensure process documentation is accurately recorded and maintained in the system of record
- Assist in the compilation of reports and dashboards tracking risk classification outcomes and key metrics for use by the EU AI Risk & Control team Legal Entities and business leadership
- Maintain an understanding of the EU AI Act and wider technical AI governance principles. Work with the EU AI Risk & Control team to continuously learn and stay current on updates and best practices
- Operate with a continuous improvement mindset and work with the EU AI Risk & Control team to contribute ideas and feedback to support process efficiency and consistency
Minimum Qualifications:
- 12 years of experience in data science machine learning/AI engineering or related disciplines with an interest in advancing a career in operational processes for technical AI governance
- Demonstrated understanding of the AI/ML development lifecycle including data preparation model training testing deployment and monitoring
- Experience analysing & visualising data in common analytics platforms or dashboarding tools
- Interest in AI governance or emerging AI regulation (e.g. EU AI Act)
- Self-starter with a growth mindset and a genuine interest in building expertise in technical AI governance such as fairness accountability transparency and robustnessin the development and evaluation of AI systems
- Strong English language verbal and written and communication skills with an ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex requirements in accessible business-friendly language
- Attention to detail with the ability to follow structured review processes and maintain accurate documentation
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills particularly in reviewing data or supporting governance workflows
- A collaborative mindset and ability to engage across business units and functions (e.g. risk data science legal and compliance) to enable a cohesive approach to AI governance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. AI Data Science Law Cyber Security Policy Risk Management)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Financial industry experience with knowledge of relevant industry regulations
- Strong understanding of machine learning data science and AI technologies
- Detailed knowledge of the EU AI Act and its obligations and/or familiarity with adjacent regulations e.g. GDPR
