This is a Part-Time > 20 Hours Weekly position with the Department of Social Services. For more information on the DSS please visit .
The South Dakota Human Services Center is posting a rare opening in their Medical Laboratory Department. This position is for an average of 20 hours per week (dayshift weekdays) and includes taking call approximately one out of every five weeks. Take advantage of this opportunity to join our lab team and youll soon learn why there is low turnover in our friendly flexible and supportive working environment! - Someone who works cooperatively with team members in the Laboratory on the patient care units and ancillary departments.
- A person who displays high levels of professionalism respect and confidentiality.
- Someone that can work independently and exercises good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.
- A dependable person who is committed to providing accurate timely lab results for the clients in our care.
- A person with a 4-year degree in chemical biological or clinical laboratory science.
- An experienced phlebotomist who is confident and compassionate.
What you will do:
- Collect blood samples from clients in all treatment areas.
- Process and package patient samples for sending out for reference laboratory testing.
- Perform general maintenance on laboratory analyzers and general laboratory equipment.
- Run quality control samples on test systems per policy and ensure proper functioning of analyzers.
- Perform CLIA Waived testing and CLIA Moderately complex laboratory testing in the areas of hematology chemistry and urinalysis.
- Assist with administrative tasks as assigned.
