General Summary
Under minimal supervision the Clinical Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who provides ongoing clinical operations support for a less complex hospital outpatient clinic including the supervision of support staff. Performs various clinical and administrative tasks requiring independent knowledge including its application to a variety of situations.
The Clinical Supervisor provides first-line supervision over day-to-day clinical operations of the office coordinates work-flow assigns tasks to personnel and responds to problems which may occur. Enforces departmental policies and procedures to ensure that goals and standards are achieved and excellent customer service is delivered to patients visitors and staff. Ensures compliance with departmental policies government and all regulatory regulations. Communicates daily/monthly with staff to support them in providing the highest quality care.
Supervises the daily activities of the FOC MAs CMAs and LPNs. Assists physicians and nursing staff in the care of patients. Performs various patient care activities including assisting with patient flow and intake as needed. May administer prescribed medications with appropriate licensure. Counsels and educates patients in health maintenance management and prevention of illness.

Qualifications :
Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Maryland required. Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland required. Three years of licensed nursing experience. Successful completion of a refresher course within past six (6) months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past five (5) years.
Working Conditions
Works inside a clean well-lighted environment. May be exposure to frequent interruptions and multiple crisis situations. May be physically or verbally abused by patients. Expected to work on rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as necessary. May be expected to work on other than regular unit to provide adequate staffing if the need arises. Participates in temporary assignment measures of department of Nursing. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials requiring the observation of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. This position has been classified as medium exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual respirator mask fitting.
Physical Requirements
Standing sitting bending and walking is required 0-5 hours/shift. Involves heavy lifting carrying pushing and pulling (up to and in excess of 100 lbs.) 0-3 hours/shift in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy. Includes reaching for fingering grasping and handling equipment/supplies 0-3 hours/shift. Requires hearing/listening to differentiate sounds 0-3 hours/shift. Visual acuity is necessary to read labels charts documents and use various instruments 0-3 hours/shift.
