General Responsibilities
The employee assigned to this position serves as a central entry point of contact for families of preschool age children who may be eligible for early childhood services provided by Norfolk Public Schools. This position supports marketing and outreach to preschool families along with the Family Resource Center. This position supports diverse enrollment into our preschool program and professional development to site-based family engagement specialist regarding support for preschool children and their families. This position provides information about services available through the public schools schedules comprehensive screenings coordinates screening schedule maintains a database of all children and provides pertinent information for appropriate follow-up services in coordination with the Senior Coordinator of Early Learning. their children in school. Education and Experience
Requires an Associates Degree or higher and experience working with young children and families. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Strong ability to plan and organize. Effective working knowledge of database and/or central point of entry software. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work within a team environment. Must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families and staff. Ability to follow tasks through to completion with strong attention to detail. Seeks clarification when uncertain of task expectations. Analyzes and/or reports problems in the area of responsibility as they occur and implements solutions as appropriate. Requires a valid drivers license.
