Job Description
Blue Ridge Unified School District will have the following position available for the
Girls JV Basketball Coach
Blue Ridge High School
Position Title: Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director / Principal
Classification: Extra-Curricular / Stipend Position
Position Summary:
The Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and developing student-athletes in the JV girls basketball program. The coach will foster teamwork sportsmanship and a strong work ethic while preparing athletes for possible advancement to the varsity level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize and lead daily practices conditioning and team meetings.
Teach basketball fundamentals game strategy and rules in a positive and inclusive environment.
Supervise and mentor student-athletes on and off the court.
Coordinate with the varsity coach to align program goals and player development.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices games and travel.
Monitor academic performance and eligibility of student-athletes.
Communicate with parents school staff and administration regarding team matters.
Adhere to Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules and school district policies.
Maintain equipment and facilities in collaboration with the athletic department.
Promote positive character development and leadership in athletes.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree preferred).
Previous basketball coaching or playing experience required (high school or higher level preferred).
CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain prior to season start).
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Completion of all AIA required coaching certifications (NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Concussion in Sports etc.).
Ability to work evenings weekends and travel for games and tournaments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with high school-aged students.
Understanding of AIA regulations and district athletic procedures.
Strong communication leadership and organizational skills.
