Job Description

ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF GAMING

The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) regulates tribal gaming event wagering fantasy sports horse racing and pari-mutuel/simulcast wagering and unarmed combat sports; investigates illegal off-reservation activities; and provides and supports prevention education and treatment programs for people and families affected by problem gambling through its Division of Problem Gambling (DPG).

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for conducting criminal research and performing analysis of criminal information and intelligence received by agents. Maintains several databases that can consist of criminal activity reports operational activity court proceedings evidence collection retention and disposition. Conducts background research for investigations through various law enforcement and open source databases. Document and disseminate information for law enforcement purposes to Department agents. Assists with documenting recording photographing and the collection of evidence during search warrant operations. This position maintains and updates evidence inventory as well as squad activity and statistics. This position also tracks criminal and civil cases filed by the unit through the judicial process ensuring agents and prosecutors are always up-to-date with prosecution needs.

Job Duties:

Conduct expert criminal analysis of complex and highly sensitive investigations related to illegal gambling. Research and analyze suspects criminal networks and activities related to illegal gambling. Provide intelligence analysis using a variety of law enforcement and computer programs. Assess and summarize case information to provide feedback to case agents for criminal investigations and operational planning. Collect manage analyze data. Prepare a variety of administrative operational and investigative reports. Present report findings as necessary. Maintain records logs and files. Establish update and maintain manual(s) and automated filing systems to store and track records stats and other various information.

Acts as a liaison to the courts coordinating legal proceedings and related activities between the units agents and the various prosecuting agencies and courts. Provides administrative support for Agents to process cases through the judicial system. Monitor track and document criminal and civil cases through the judicial process. Schedules court appearances. Maintains communication and cooperation between the Agents and the courts. Assists in processing of evidence collection and documentation including photographing and logging items collected for prosecution. Assists in the packaging transportation and tracking of department evidence. Prepares evidence for court auction release or destruction in accordance with Arizona State Law.

Maintain and update property and evidence inventories. Follows rules policies and procedures for proper handling storage and disposition.

Coordinate purchasing placing orders and verifying deliveries with Finance and Procurement for the section. Ensure the process from purchase request to paying the final invoice and closing purchase orders is complete.

Attend training sessions conferences and workshops to keep abreast of current practices programs resources and legal issues.

Selective Preference(s):

2 years experience with handling of law enforcement evidence.

2 years experience with crime scene processing and evidence collection.

Experience with conducting criminal investigation research and analysis.

Experience working as a criminal intelligence analyst or sworn law enforcement officer for a local state tribal or federal agency and/or a branch of the United States Armed Forces.
