Responsible for instructing students in an elementary school environment from grades K-5. Creates lesson plans and provides instruction to students in the academic content areas of science language arts social studies and mathematics. Works in collaboration with other teachers other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress and creates a well-rounded comprehensive instructional program.
Special Factors: Eastgate ES is one of the districts seven Health Science Academies which encourages our teachers to in addition to teaching the regular core curriculum 1. Create and teach lessons which introduce and explore the Health Sciences as it relates to health science careers and more. 2. Collaborate effectively with the nurse from OSU East assigned to your classroom. 3. Effectively lesson plan monthly for HSA Day which includes experiments and activities. 4. Prepare students for and participate in the Health Science Fair held annually. Additionally Eastgate is a Trauma Informed school. All staff are trained. Applicants should be willing to attend training. 5. Eastgate has strong ties and partnerships with the community. We sponsor evening activities throughout the year that staff is encouraged to support with fidelity. 6. Eastgate follows the Balanced Literacy model and all teachers utilize small group data driven instruction in both reading and math. 7. Fourth grade classrooms are departmentalized.
