Job Description

Description

Under the general direction of Director of Service supports the delivery of special procedures in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Elmhurst Hospital Centers specifically Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) using VARIAN TrueBeam technology; provides advisory function on radiation technical and safety issues for the department. The per diem Physicist will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the same accurate and efficient delivery of advanced radiotherapy treatments. Job does not provide direct patient care but has direct impact on quality of program for SRS and SBRT patients.



Responsibilities
  1. Provides on-site physics support for SRS and SBRT treatments using TrueBeam including HyperArc cases.
  2. Supports staff as they bring these new treatment modalities into common usage at the hospital.
  3. Perform pre-treatment QA chart checks and treatment planning verification.
  4. Collaborates closely with radiation oncologists dosimetrists and therapists to ensure accurate patient setup and treatment delivery.
  5. Ensures compliance with departmental protocols AAPM/ACR guidelines and regulatory standards.
  6. Troubleshoots technical and clinical issues related to SRS/SBRT workflows and equipment as needed.
  7. Performs related duties as required professionally or as assigned.


Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years clinical experience in Radiation Oncology commensurate leadership expertise with direct experience in SRS and SBRT.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Eclipse Treatment Planning System
    • ARIA Oncology Information System
    • Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator platform
    • HyperArc planning and delivery
  • Familiarity with AAPM TG-101 TG-142 and TG-218 recommendations.
  • Board certification by ABR(or board eligible with strong clinical experience).
  • New York State Therapeutic Medical Physicist License.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite skills required.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Per diem; scheduled on an as-needed basis to support high-complexity cases (typically weekdays; occasional early morning or evening sessions).
