Job Description

Job Title: Controller

A well-established Care Retirement Community in Dublin CA is seeking a seasoned Controller o lead its financial operations. This individual will oversee all accounting functions and play a critical role in financial strategy audit readiness budgeting and compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor accounting team members.

  • Promote cross-departmental collaboration and financial accountability.

  • Organize accounting workflows to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

  • Conduct regular team meetings to encourage communication and alignment.

  • Serve as Director on Duty and be available for on-call responsibilities.

  • Prepare and deliver timely monthly financial reports.

  • Manage all general ledger functions including A/R A/P payroll and fixed assets.

  • Oversee billing processes for both independent living and health center services.

  • Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.

  • Maintain and reconcile Master Trust schedules and other financial records.

  • Support and manage the annual budgeting process.

  • Lead annual audit and ensure compliance with GAAP.

  • Ensure timely submission of required financial reports to regulatory agencies.

  • Monitor internal controls and tax-related processes including payroll tax filings.

  • Present financial updates and recommendations to executive leadership.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting leadership experience.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

  • Proficient in general ledger A/P A/R payroll and financial reporting.

  • Skilled in financial analysis budgeting and audit preparation.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.

  • Experience in healthcare senior living or nonprofit environments is a plus
