Pay : $35.00/hr - $45.00/hr on W2!
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Sign Language Interpreter to support a need at Lockheed Martin.
As an ASL Interpreter you will provide interpretation services for our deaf/hard of hearing employee(s) in a machine shop environment.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in ASL and have experience working in a fast-paced industrial/machine shop setting.
Job Duties:
- Provide accurate and timely ASL interpretation for deaf and hard of hearing employees in the machine shop
- Facilitate communication between employees supervisors and other stakeholders
- Interpret meetings training sessions and other work-related activities
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the companys policies procedures and safety protocols
- Collaborate with others to ensure seamless communication
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
Required Experience:
- Candidate must have National certification as an ASL Interpreter (e.g. NIC CI or CT)
- 2 years of experience as an ASL Interpreter in an industrial environment machine shop or manufacturing setting
- Fluency in ASL and English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced noisy environment with exposure to machinery and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate for extended periods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work a 10-hour day 4 days/week with occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety protocols
- Certification in specialized areas such as OSHA or industrial safety
Work Environment: The ASL Interpreter will work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise machinery and equipment. The interpreter must be able to navigate the shop floor safely and effectively.
