We are seeking an experienced CEI Project Administrator / Project Engineer to lead and manage large-scale complex transportation infrastructure projects including highway and bridge construction in the Miami area. The role involves on-site oversight of road and bridge work for Florida Turnpike Enterprise projects ensuring all operations meet or exceed Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards.
Youll work within a well-established engineering consulting firm known for delivering innovative solutions across transportation planning engineering and construction management. This is an opportunity to work on high-impact public sector projects collaborate with top-tier talent and support Floridas expanding transportation network.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise day-to-day CEI activities on active highway and bridge construction projects.
Provide technical engineering support to inspectors and contractors resolving challenges in real-time to maintain project momentum.
Manage and assign daily responsibilities to inspectors ensuring efficient use of field resources and adherence to inspection protocols.
Review interpret and enforce compliance with FDOT specifications contract documents construction plans and applicable codes.
Ensure timely project delivery by reviewing monthly progress schedules and aligning work with contractual milestones.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate project documentation in accordance with FDOT policies and auditing requirements.
Communicate effectively with project stakeholders including contractors utility owners local agencies and Turnpike representatives.
Review quantities and certify pay estimates for contractor payments based on verified completed work.
Maintain quality assurance throughout all construction phases and lead the CEI team to uphold safety and performance standards.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors and engineers on project protocols and best practices.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in construction engineering and inspection (CEI) for road and bridge projects (if non-degreed).
OR 6 years of experience with a Civil Engineering degree.
Must include at least 3 years as a CEI Project Administrator or Construction Project Manager on FDOT projects.
Certifications (required or eligible for recertification):
FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
CTQP Final Estimates Level II
CTQP Quality Control Manager
Critical Structures Construction Issues
Preferred: Florida PE License (Professional Engineer)
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of FDOT standards manuals and CEI procedures.
Ability to assess direct and troubleshoot field construction activities efficiently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Demonstrated leadership in managing field teams and project timelines.
