Job Description
JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES
- Lead and oversee the electrical design scope for data centre construction projects.
- Responsible for producing high-quality compliant electrical designs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient robust and innovative solutions.
- Ensure the electrical systems meet safety authority client and performance requirements while supporting overall project delivery.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY
- Responsible and accountable for designing and analyzing complex electrical systems including ELV LV and fire protection systems.
- Develop detailed electrical system designs aligned with project specifications and client requirements.
- Incorporate energy efficiency and sustainability principles into electrical designs.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with local authority regulations industry codes safety requirements and performance standards.
- Collaborate with architects mechanical engineers and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Liaise regularly with Electrical Design Coordinator Project Engineers vendors subcontractors and other relevant stakeholders.
- Evaluate and select appropriate electrical materials products and equipment for project applications.
- Understand installation methods and sequencing for electrical systems to ensure constructability and maintainability.
- Perform system calculations including load analysis short circuit analysis and simulations to verify design performance.
- Prepare and review technical drawings specifications and engineering reports.
- Assist in the development and coordination of BIM models for electrical systems.
- Conduct clash detection analysis and support resolution of design conflicts in BIM environment.
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY
- Independent Decisions:
- Provide expert input on design codes material selections and engineering best practices.
- Make technical decisions within approved scope and design parameters.
- Decisions with Supervisor Input:
- Project direction resource planning and prioritization to be aligned with Head of Engineering Design or Project Manager.
- Budget-related or procurement matters require review and approval.
Requirements
Education:
- Minimum: Bachelor s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 5 years of experience in electrical design.
- Preferably experienced in data centre mission-critical or MEP projects.
- Strong background in ELV LV systems and fire suppression systems.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in AutoCAD Revit and relevant electrical simulation or analysis tools.
- Familiar with BIM coordination processes and ISO 19650 standards.
- Strong knowledge of local technical regulations (e.g. Suruhanjaya Tenaga MS IEC).
- Strong communication team collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Good leadership abilities and detail-oriented approach to engineering deliverables.
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Able to work effectively in multicultural project teams.
