Job Summary

Summary:
The Massachusetts General Hospital Heart Centers Cardiac Arrhythmia Service and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab are internationally recognized for pioneering contributions to the treatment of heart rhythm disorders offering patients the most advanced approaches to the evaluation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The Electrophysiology Lab offers advanced therapies including catheter ablation for atrial fibillation ventricular tachcardia and other complex cardiac arrhythmias; implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) for the prevention of sudden cardiac death; cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) for patients with congestive heart failure and laser lead extraction.

Essential Functions:
-Assists the cardiologist in all surgical and diagnostic procedures.
-Attends to patient needs during cardiac lab procedures.
-Attends to patient needs during cardiac lab procedures.
-Recognizes and interprets arrhythmias and heart block abnormalities.
-Tests tissue according to what the pathologist needs.
-Describe the indications for electrophysiologic testing permanent pacemaker.
-Operates the radiographic equipment utilizing radiation safety procedures.
-Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.



Qualifications

Education

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or in a related field of study;

orhave graduated with an Associates Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and must be certified by the ARRT and possess a valid license to practice as a radiologic technologist in Massachusetts

Radiologic Technologist MA State License - preferred





Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS (AHA) - American Heart Association (AHA) preferred

Registered Technologist ARRT-R - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred

Basic Life Support BLS Certification - preferred

Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist RCIS - Cardiovascular Credentialing International preferred

Experience
On the job training consisting of 2-3 months (dependent on past experience and knowledge) training will consist of orientation to the clinical and radiological setting formal orientation with an experienced radiologic/cardiovascular technologist to become familiar with interventional hemodynamic and radiologic equipment as well as patient care responsibilities all age groups 0-2 year preferred




Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of sterile technique.
- Ability to handle assignments under minimal supervision is essential.
- Technical Skills: strives to continuously build knowledge and skills pursues training and development opportunities shares expertise with others.
- Knowledge of lab equipment and procedures.

- Create various excel based sample reports with data exports.
