At Bodhi Animal Hospital we offer primary care for dogs and cats in North Park Hillcrest Uptown Downtown and Greater San Diego. We specialize in small animal surgery. We are proud to be AAHA accredited.

Bodhi Animal Hospital is a beautiful state of the art veterinary practice located in North Park. We offer personalized high-level veterinary care to the dogs and cats of Uptown Downtown and greater San Diego. Rotating Sundays are required for this position.*

Veterinary Technician (unlicensed) or seasoned Veterinary Assistant:

The Veterinary Technician performs a vital role in our practice promoting efficient hospital operation and provision of excellent patient care. Job responsibilities and technical skills include the following.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Set an example of courtesy and professionalism in working with clients and coworkers.
  • Assist and follow the directions of lead technicians management and doctors.
  • Perform simple treatments as directed.
  • Reliably perform treatments. Ensure that treatments are kept up to date.
  • Handle all animals with both caution and compassion.
  • Prepare patients for surgery.
  • Keep all areas including reception exam rooms treatment sinks floors cages etc. clean at all times.
  • Assist with some reception work when needed.
  • Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule
  • Required shifts may be scheduled on nights weekends and holidays.You may be required to work beyond regularly scheduled shifts at times due to an unexpectedly heavy emergency caseload.

Experience & Technical skills:

*Previous veterinary technician experience 1-3 years.

*Experience working in a fast paced environment is preferred.

*Ability to multi-task and work well with others.

*Safely restrain patients.

*Monitor anesthesia and anesthetic recovery.

*Perform basic lab work.

*Assist in taking and developingX-rays under the supervision of a senior technician.

*Give intravenous injections and IV fluids.

*Place peripheral IV catheters.

*Be capable of working on your feet for extended periods of time.

  • Monitor patients in surgery using proper anesthetic techniques

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $21-26/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience and location.
