Description

Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for Inpatient Pharmacy as a full-time technician. 8 hour shifts variable hours (some weekends).

The Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) assists the pharmacist in the preparation filling and delivery of medications in a timely manner. Compounds sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals. This includes but is not limited to total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and IV admixtures. Also the pharm tech delivers and refills automated dispensing machines accurately. Runs reports as needed to ensure proper inventory within automated dispensing cabinets. Performs other duties as assigned.

Pharmacy TechnicianRoles and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pharmacological services by assembling stocking and distributing medications
  • Maintaining records by recording and filing the prescriptions and orders of Physicians
  • Sorting stocking and labeling medications and monitoring inventory
  • Responding to the requests of patients and healthcare providers answering their questions and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist
  • Complying with rules regulations and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces
  • Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is accurate and complete
  • Generating revenues by recording calculating and issuing charges
  • Undertaking administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by a Physician or facility manager from time to time

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacy Tech License/registration in the state of Tennessee is required (PtCB)
  • Current pharmacy technician certification (CPhT)
  • Sterile Compounding experience preferred
