Builds installs tests maintains and repairs a wide range of electronic security equipment devices system hardware software and locking hardware including but not limited to motion detectors door contacts glass breaks panic points water detectors IP cameras wireless alarm products and card access systems in the Museum and off site facilities. Uses hand tools carpentry and metalworking skills as required to install security devices and locking hardware.
Installs space detection devices including glass breaks water detectors motion detectors door contact and panic buttons to hard wired and wireless alarm systems.
Installs card access systems including processors card reader strikes electric latches requests to exit and low voltage power supplies.
Works with and advises Museum employees engineers carpenters and outside contractors relating to the technical aspects of electronic security installations.
Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning security systems and devices.
Responds to alarm repairs and emergencies on a 24 hour basis as needed for the operation.
Assists with day-to-day high volume work orders and completes the same in a timely manner.
Attends meetings on behalf of the Department of Protection Services.
Complements the Technical Services shops manpower to achieve coverage for the Museum.
Assists with the Museums security systems data processing and retrieval.
Complements as needed the other Technicians on new camera deployments.
Assists in all security aspects associated with special exhibits.
Assist in the start-up process for all new security systems installations as well as:
Oversees the inspection and functional testing for the operating order of all security installations.
Ensures that all required aspects of the start-up process are completed prior to system activation.
Maintains operational readiness of all security central monitoring systems infrastructures communication networks electronic field sensors and devices.
Other duties as assigned.
