Registered Nurse Neuro/Stroke Step-Down Unit (Pilot Program)
Facility: Athena Medtech
Contract Length: 36 Weeks (Pilot Contract)
Schedule: Full-Time Opportunities for Overtime (OT) Available
Commitment: Full contract term required
Athena Medtech is seeking a highly motivated and clinically skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neuro/Stroke Step-Down Unit as part of a pioneering 36-week pilot contract. This position offers the opportunity to work in a Comprehensive Stroke Center within a Level I Trauma academic hospital delivering exceptional care to a diverse patient population with a wide range of health conditions-from routine to highly complex.
Essential ResponsibilitiesManage a designated group of patients ensuring high-quality competent nursing care.
Accurately document patient responses to treatments interventions and medical orders.
Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor procedures.
Monitor and interpret physiological data responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications and manage IV infusions blood products and other treatments.
Collaborate with patients and families to communicate care plans and provide discharge instructions.
Initiate referrals and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams as needed.
Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff in alignment with scope and competency.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience
Strong foundation in professional nursing theory clinical practices and procedures
Excellent organizational and care coordination skills
Effective communication-both verbal and written
Adaptability to culturally and linguistically diverse patient populations
Basic proficiency with electronic health records and digital documentation systems
Prior experience in neuro/stroke care or step-down/telemetry units strongly preferred
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a board-approved institution

Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
ACLS certification (required for step-down care providers)
