JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Department/Location: Finance
FLSA Status: Exempt

General Purpose of the Position:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the hospitals leadership team providing strategic financial direction and day-to-day financial management. This role oversees business office operations including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll general accounting general ledger monthly and annual closes financial reporting budget preparation and FTE management.

While prior experience in a hospital healthcare or behavioral health setting is strongly preferred it is not required. Candidates with solid financial leadership experience in other industries who are eager to apply their expertise in a healthcare environment are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong collaboration skills the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a proactive approach to problem-solving and financial planning.

Work Location: This position is based on-site at a small rural hospital located between Central and South Georgia.

  • Daily commuting is required.

  • Hybrid workdays may be considered.

  • Candidates must be willing to relocate or reside within a commutable distance.

Base Pay Range:

$110000 $120000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. Additional incentives or benefits may be discussed during the interview process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial leadership and operational oversight of all finance functions.

  • Monitor and control accounts receivable; closely oversee Business Office operations to ensure cash collection goals are met and net revenue is accurately reported.

  • Develop strategies to improve profitability; monitor costs across departments with particular attention to staffing levels in relation to patient volume.

  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures aligned with GAAP and internal guidelines to ensure financial sustainability.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements reports and packages.

  • Perform account reconciliations financial analysis and provide supporting documentation for audits tax filings and reimbursement reviews.

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with management and department heads incorporating historical data and future projections.

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial systems processes and data; identify and implement process improvements.

  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently while aligning with broader organizational goals.

Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable payroll income tax and banking.

  • Proficient in spreadsheet software (Excel or equivalent).

  • Contractual or SEC-related negotiation experience is a plus.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently take initiative and meet objectives with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent analytical organizational and communication skills.

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
  • Proficiency with financial software and spreadsheet programs (Excel Quattro Pro Lotus or similar).

  • Familiarity with modern accounting systems and financial platforms.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.

  • Masters degree preferred but not required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role is required

  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is preferred but not required.
