Job Description

Job Title: DevOps Senior Engineer (Global ECCO Project)
Location: Remote Within the United States
Position Type: Part-Time Contract (640 hours per period)
Clearance Requirement: None
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship may be required based on system access

Overview:

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is seeking a DevOps Senior Engineer to support the Global ECCO project a mission-driven effort that enables classroom-based strategic exercises for military academic institutions. This role will support the deployment maintenance and development of cloud-based and offline web applications critical to Global ECCO operations.

This opportunity requires strong technical and operational experience with cloud services (AWS) backend development DevOps automation and support for live training exercises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the GlobalECCO online strategic exercise system currently in production use
  • Configure and manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure supporting the system
  • Develop and maintain backend services using Java and
  • Support external developers integrating or customizing new/reskinned exercises
  • Support deployment efforts including:
    • Creating temporary user accounts
    • Scaling services for exercise size
    • Resolving technical issues before live facilitation
  • Build and maintain an offline-deployable version of the strategic exercise system
  • Document and train team members on developed applications
  • Collaborate with end users to identify and resolve application issues
  • Participate in weekly and bi-weekly meetings for testing and status updates
  • Submit a monthly progress report detailing:
    • Completed tasks
    • Work in progress
    • Short-term goals
    • Relevant project updates

Minimum Technical Requirements:

1.1 5 years of work experience integrating internet applications within Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Cloud Dev Kit
1.2 5 years of work experience with application development with Java technologies
1.3 5 years of work experience with Node JS technologies
1.4 5 years of work experience automating AWS services
1.5 Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other developers to ensure operability with existing infrastructure systems
1.6 Master of Science Degree (MS) degree in technical field of study such as (Computer Science Engineering or other Mathematics related disciplines)

Period of Performance:

  • Base Period: September 30 2025 February 1 2026
  • Option Period 1: February 2 2026 July 1 2026
  • Option Period 2: July 2 2026 December 1 2026
  • Estimated Labor: 640 hours per period

Place of Performance:

Remote Work will be performed at the contractors site within the United States.

Government-Furnished Equipment and Information:

The Government will provide:

  • One computer and accessories
  • Initial technical orientation subject matter guidance and access to reference documentation
  • Authorized access to required systems and software

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Fridaylocal time
  • Excludes federal holidays
  • Flexibility allowed with prior COR approval
