We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dentist to join our healthcare team and provide comprehensive dental care within a secure correctional environment. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality professional dental services to an underserved population.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and emergency dental treatments including examinations fillings cleanings extractions dentures and root canals (anterior and premolar).
Diagnose dental conditions and develop individual treatment plans for inmates/residents.
Coordinate and supervise the facilitys dental program including education on oral health and disease prevention.
Recruit schedule train supervise and evaluate dental staff as needed.
Collaborate with other healthcare providers and coordinate specialized or emergency dental care.
Monitor control and inventory all medications dental instruments supplies and equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and ensure proper sanitation and infection control procedures.
Prepare and maintain accurate dental records documentation reports and logs in accordance with facility standards.
Ensure confidentiality of all dental and medical records.
Audit dental files and pharmacy usage to ensure compliance with policies and cost-effective practices.
Oversee external providers and contract dental services.
Support the facilitys dental budget planning billing processes and supply requisition.
Participate in emergency responses including providing emergency dental or medical aid.
Monitor safety practices and maintain secure storage of dental tools and materials.
Comply with all applicable laws regulations policies and correctional facility rules.
Communicate clearly with staff inmates/residents visitors and legal representatives; provide professional testimony when required.
Coordinate inmate movement for dental care and evaluate safety needs for staff and patients.
Investigate incidents review legal claims (in collaboration with corporate counsel) and attend court hearings when needed.
Remain alert calm and effective in high-stress or emergency situations.
Graduate of an accredited School of Dentistry.
Must possess a valid and current Dental License in the state of California.
Minimum of one (1) year of dental experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Familiarity with correctional facility protocols safety procedures and standards preferred.
Valid drivers license preferred unless otherwise required by contract or local laws.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
