Job Description

Performs the following US studies: Abdomen OB/GYN Pedi Basic Vascular small parts. May perform Interventional procedures. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures that two points of patient identification is obtained that patient is properly prepared and obtains a relevant patient history. Reviews the patient s chart to obtain pertinent clinical history test results and laboratory data as they apply to accurate interpretation of the ultrasound examination. Explains exam to the patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs; maintaining ethical standards (patient confidentiality professional conduct etc.). Delivers patient care under scope of license/training Utilizes universal precaution techniques as well as safety techniques specific to the patient s status. Be knowledgeable in the operation of all equipment to be used during the workday. To notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed Rotates within department divisions and all off-site clinics by shifts as required and needed; cooperates with all personnel promoting harmony within department Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel. Execute paperwork PACS RIS and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam. Prepare the equipment room and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use. Stock and supply room and general department area as needed. Remain up to date on developments and trends in imaging techniques procedures and equipment. To participate in education programs and meet state and national requirements for continuing educational credits. Transport and transfer patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams. Perform all other duties as directed. QUALIFICATIONS Must have graduated from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months full time clinical ultrasound experience. Must meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers)
