Experience and Training Required: a. Valid Ohio license (RCP) to practice Respiratory Care granted by the State Medical Board of Ohio. b. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) & obtain RRT within 120 days of employment (start date). Other Skills Competencies and Qualifications: a. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. b. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. Essential Functions: The following job specific requirements should discuss the essential duties and responsibilities required of the position. 1. Confirms physician order assesses for appropriateness and ensures quality patient care. Notifies physician nurse and/or other hospital staff of any unusual reaction observed in patients during performance of duties. Assesses evaluates documents in medical record and monitors patient for tolerance and response to therapy and treatment. 2. Explains treatment procedures to patient and addresses any concerns or questions. Maintains safe environment for patients visitors and hospital staff. Promotes customer satisfaction through positive behaviors when interacting with patients visitors and co-workers. 3. Performs respiratory/pulmonary procedures per department policy or protocol. Responds to emergencies and participates in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Sets up and maintains all equipment administers medical gases medications assists with stocking of supplies and drugs. Completes appropriate billing information for completed services. 4. Participates in patient care teams and quality improvement programs to achieve the organization s mission and purpose. Provides input into policies and procedures development to positively impact outcomes and delivery cost. Participates in educational activities presented to patients families students other health care professionals and the community. 5. Attends in services meetings and conferences to keep current on new techniques equipment and procedures. Maintains proficiency in Respiratory Care skills as required by regulatory agencies.
