Planer Technician 2nd. Shift 2 pm - 10 pm

BENEFITS: Medical Dental Vision 401K

AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Planer Technician on 2nd. Shift to be located in West Plains MO. This position is responsible for set up and operations of Newman Double Surfacer S-382 machines for the purpose of planning kiln dried planks of lumber and sending planks to ripsaw system for further processing.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Selects installs and adjusts saw blades cutterheads and conveyor belts in and around planing machines.
  • Performs inspection of machine and coordinates all mechanical and quality related issues with production supervisor and maintenance personnel as needed to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Inspects machine for wear leaks and needed repairs on tooling conveyor operation electronic eyes hydraulic hoses fittings shafts and bearings.
  • Ensures proper tooling for the heads on planing machine and will help create and follow guidelines for monitoring and replacing tooling in order to ensure a quality surface on planks sent to ripsaws.
  • Provides oversight of employees involved in Tilt and Stick Stacker operations while singulating lumber from tilt area to meet manufacturing demands.
  • Performs weekly preventative maintenance duties in adherence to machine manufacturer specifications.
  • Works closely with department personnel supervisor maintenance production manager and machining personnel in order to ensure planers are in optimal operating condition.
  • Verifies dimensions of planed planks for adherence to specifications. Makes adjustments when needed to meet manufacturing specifications.
  • Sharpens machine cutting heads.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ration and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • The ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime.
  • Good mechanical skills and maintenance background preferred.
  • Previous wood planer molder or sidematcher experience is advantageous.
  • Must complete Lock Out/Tag Out training and certification.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly standing walking reaching grasping and repetitive movements.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear and climb or balance.
  • Occasionally stoop or kneel.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly specific vision abilities include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly lift or assist in lifting tires shafts helical carbide heads hoses conveyors and wood planks up to 16 in length.
  • Regularly reaching with hands and arms will be required to perform maintenance duties on planer and conveyors.
  • Regularly must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and an environment that is usually loud.
  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Regularly climbs stairs to/from workstations.
