PURPOSE
The Director of Student Conduct under general direction directs and oversees the planning implementation compliance evaluation budgeting and supervision of the programs and activities of Student Conduct.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1:Administration & Leadership
Percent Effort: 55%
Administers the student conduct hearing process (including student organization conduct student misconduct student sexual misconduct) maintains student disciplinary records maintains student conduct database tracks cases and their sanctions prepares and updates the script for student board hearings and trains faculty/staff student conduct board.
Coordinates student discipline hearings.
Manages reports received from various campus constituencies including University Police and the Office of Compliance and coordinates case management related to the reports.
Conducts an annual review of the student code of conduct to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines and recommends revisions as necessary.
Directs operations of the administrative functions of the department including budgeting personnel and management.
Provides strategic direction and long-range planning and assurance of thorough assessment of office programs and services.
Evaluates and refines present policies procedures and systems.
Responsible for an organizational structure that provides for continued effective operations of the department. Devise and implement short- and long-term staffing plans.
Responsible for accurate and complete record management in compliance with TAMU System records retention policies and federal requirements; oversight of student conduct and behavior records software/system.
Maintains official University student discipline records and provides summary and annual reports.
Supports the development and continued success of student conduct as well as collaborative events and initiatives to increase student knowledge and enhance community support and retention efforts on campus.
Provides clearance for admission or transfer and certification of eligibility for selection to certain organizations and student body offices.
Ensures compliance with federal state and local laws as well as System regulations and University rules and procedures.
Functional Area 2: Supervision
Percent Effort: 20%
Direct the efforts for overall supervision of department staffrecruiting hiring supervising coaching and evaluating.
Assist with personal and professional development of staff.
Recruit and train members to serve on specific student hearing boards.
Functional Area 3: Communication and Outreach
Percent Effort: 20%
Develop and maintain marketing communication goals for the programs and services offered by the department.
Responsible for the overall department messaging.
Develops and implements educational outreach programs to address student conduct topics and to help students understand expected and preferred behaviors and knowledge of processes/rights and responsibilities.
Build and maintain collaborative relations with students faculty staff advisors community/university partners
Develops pamphlets public service announcements content for websites and other materials designed to promote the Universitys student conduct standards.
Represent the department in appropriate activities on and off campus participating in state regional and national organizations.
Maintain working relationships with department stakeholders.
Provides consultation to staff and broader University community on services and programs associated with the department.
Functional Area 4: Other
Percent Effort: 5%
Serve on designated University divisional and/or departmental committees and or taskforces.
Complete special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree.
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in a juvenile justice or criminal judicial environment College or University setting in student affairs student personnel services judicial services or student conduct services.
Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement:
Masters degree and eight (8) years of progressively responsible administrative and/or supervisory experience in a juvenile justice or criminal judicial environment College or University setting in student affairs student personnel services judicial services or student conduct services.
Doctoral degree and six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative and/or supervisory experience in a juvenile justice or criminal judicial environment College or University setting in student affairs student personnel services judicial services or student conduct services.
Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
Strong computer skills in word processing spreadsheet and database applications.
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the students staff administration and faculty.
Ability to plan organize and prioritize work as well as attend to detail.
Ability to work with time sensitive matters and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to work in a moderately independent environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in counseling student personnel administration higher education administration or related field from an accredited university.
Possess exceptional planning and organizational skills
Knowledge of crisis management student conduct processes.
Knowledge of Title IX Clery FERPA and applicable Texas laws.
SALARY $71000 Annually Approximately
Monthly $5916.66
