The Assistant Coach 1 Baseball assists the Head Coach in directing the management and administration of the Universitys Division I intercollegiate baseball program. Responsibilities typically include some or all of the following: provide leadership in program priorities and initiatives; administer program budget; develop and implement short and long-term goals for the program; and establish multi-year recruiting plan.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists in formulating coaching decisions such as development and implementation of the systems and strategies used on the field conduct of practice and conditioning/training selection of Team members deployment of players and all other matters relating to the practice for and play of games as well as the performance of all other duties customarily associated of a head coach of a major Division I intercollegiate sports program.
Assists with the sports programs recruiting activities which may include prospect student-athlete (PSA) evaluation; scouting; developing scouting reports; conducting video analysis; tracking PSA correspondence; distribution of scholarships; monitoring admissions and eligibility process involving recruited student-athletes; the planning and executing campus visits; managing recruiting databases.
Assists in developing and administering sport team rules including taking disciplinary action for violations of the Universitys Student Athlete Code of Conduct. Monitors study hall grade reports class attendance appearance and general standard of behavior of the teams student-athletes.
Implements appropriate risk management strategies at all times; engages in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes; and demonstrates concern for the overall welfare of students at all times.
Monitors and encourages the regular progress toward an academic degree of those student-athletes who are on the Team and making reasonable and good faith efforts in cooperation with the Universitys faculty administration and the academic support unit for student-athletes to meet all student-athletes academic requirements.
Promotes an atmosphere of compliance with other coaches and actively supervising student-athletes and other individuals so as to maintain strict compliance with the constitutions bylaws rules and regulations of the NCAA the Atlantic Coast Conference and any other governing body league or conference of which the University may be subject to.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
This role will provide invaluable support to the head baseball coach by taking on agreed upon responsibilities and handling many day-to-day items relating to the program. The role shall assist in leading and implementing various strategic planning processes for the overall success of the baseball program. The role will assist with providing athletic department leadership with important baseball program information.
Collaborating with all associated with the baseball program to determine and prioritize strategies for success.
Baseball liaison to internal athletic units.
Providing Head Coach with recommendations and consultation to improve teamwork.
Providing tactical support to implement strategic ideas to advance program.
Oversee strategic initiatives from conception to implementation.
Identifying and helping solve problems.
Providing support or oversight for special projects or initiatives.
Planning coordinating and leading meetings and workshops for coaches and student-athletes.
Provide support related to the day-to-day operations maintenance and scheduling associated with baseball facilities.
Identifying and providing recommendations on improvements for the baseball program.
Adhere to all NCAA ACC and University of Miami rules and regulations
Department Specific Qualifications
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
Bachelors degree in a related field or 3-5 years of equivalent work experience
Masters Degree preferred.
Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
Three to five years of relevant experience
