Benefits As a Speech-Language Pathologist heres a big-picture view of what youll do:
Provide speech therapy to patients having communication swallowing and cognitive difficulties in facilities such as nursing homes rehab centers assisted living facilities and hospitals Work with a team of physicians nurses CNAs PTs and OTs to provide excellent patient care Assist physician in evaluation of patients ability to speak swallow and process information
Conduct patient assessments document progress and ensure patient goals are met Assist with mouth breathing and swallowing exercises fluency articulation and reading Educate patient and family on therapy goals safety practices and self-care A few must-haves for Speech-Language Pathologists:
Masters or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology and active SLP license in Florida. Minimum of 2 years of speech therapy experience in a medical facility CPR certification and AHCA level 2 experience Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations Good clinical judgement critical thinking skills strong communicator empathy and compassion Why Work for Interim HealthCare
