Description:

10:00am - 6:00pm

St. Pauls Assisted Living in South Bend is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary services team. The Prep Cook supports the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting with basic food preparation to ensure residents receive nutritious well-balanced and attractively presented meals in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients by washing chopping slicing and measuring food items according to recipes and menu requirements
  • Assist cooks and chefs in preparing and plating meals for residents
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen prep areas and equipment
  • Properly label and store food items to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination
  • Follow all food safety regulations and company policies
  • Help with receiving and storing deliveries and rotating stock
  • Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Manager

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of basic food preparation and kitchen safety procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Must be dependable punctual and professional in demeanor
  • ServSafe certification is a plus

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Work involves exposure to hot equipment cleaning chemicals and various food allergens
  • Schedule may include weekends and holidays
