Penick Village Continuing Care Retirement community is seeking experienced and talented Cooks to join our Dining Services team.
Primary Responsibility:
The Cook is responsible for food preparations that meet or exceed hospitality and service standards of this community. Prepare all foods to meet quantity quality and deadline requirements. As part of an interdependent team of skilled and caring people the Cook must act in accordance with current federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations that govern Penick Village to ensure that the highest quality of resident care and safety is maintained at all times.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare food items using standardized recipes.
Determine food and supplies needed and coordinate meal production with serving hours.
Maintain all workstations and dining areas.
Prepare all special dietary needs as directed by the Resident menus.
Monitor all food items to see that at least the minimum guidelines for temperature taste presentation and quality are upheld at all times.
Maintain or exceed standards of appearance cleanliness hygiene and health standards.
Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
Assist with orientation and training of new kitchen employees.
Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures.
Attending all in-services as required.
Responsible for following all local state and federal policies regarding food handling.
Assist in the portioning and serving of food items before during and after the meal periods.
Assist with proper documentation of temperature logs and taste panel forms.
Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Experience:
Minimum two years experience as a cook preparing full line of menu items.
Able to read write and follow written and verbal instructions.
Able to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.
Able to prepare food in a senior housing environment which meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards.
Able to physically handle weights up to 30 pounds on a consistent basis.
Able to walk and stand on feet for long periods.
Able to withstand temperature changes such as heat from ovens and cold of freezers
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
