    Position Summary:
    • Liberty Local Schools is seeking a dynamic and compassionate High School Counselor to join our educational team. This position is instrumental in supporting students academic career and personal development as they navigate their high school experience. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with students parents teachers and administration to create a positive school climate that fosters student achievement and well-being.
    Key Responsibilities:

    Individual and Group Counseling
    • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address academic social and emotional concerns.
    • Facilitate discussions and activities aimed at developing coping strategies self-esteem and conflict resolution skills.
    Academic Guidance
    • Assist students with course selection and academic planning to meet graduation requirements and individual career goals.
    • Monitor student academic progress and work with teachers and families to identify and implement support strategies.
    College and Career Readiness
    • Guide students through the college application process including writing personal statements and preparing for interviews.
    • Provide information on scholarships financial aid and other post-secondary opportunities.
    Crisis Intervention
    • Respond to and manage crisis situations or emergencies involving students and refer them to appropriate resources when necessary.
    • Collaborate with mental health professionals and community resources to provide additional support to students in need.
    Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement programs and workshops focused on academic success career planning social skills and healthy relationships.
    • Organize events such as college fairs and career days to expose students to various opportunities.
    Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with teachers administrators and support staff to develop strategies for student success.
    • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and behavioral concerns.
    Assessment and Data Management
    • Collect and analyze data to assess individual and group counseling effectiveness.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and counseling sessions in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
    Professional Development
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in school counseling and adolescent development.
    • Attend relevant workshops conferences and training to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
    Qualifications:
    • Masters degree in School Counseling Psychology or a related field.
    • Valid School Counselor License or certification as required by the state of Ohio.
    • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with adolescents from diverse backgrounds and provide tailored support.
    • Previous experience in high school counseling or a related educational setting is preferred.
    Additional Information:
    • This position may require occasional evening and weekend school events and activities commitments.
    • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
